Since 1976, Xavier High School RFC has been building young men in to gentlemen, rugby players and champions. One of the pre-eminent high school rugby programs in America, Xavier is the reigning Rugby NY Champion and has won more than twenty East Coast and Northeast RFU Championship titles and four National Championships. WIth over 100 current players on its four teams, and countless loyal alumni and supporters, Xavier marches proudly into it's 39th season in 2014.
9/10/14: Seamus Kelly '09 signed one-month contract with Gloucester of the English Aviva Premiership. Seamus is now the second Xavier player to earn a contract in the top English professional league.
7/14 - Dominck DeFalco '10 was selected to the United Sates Collegiate All-Americans. He started against Cambridge.
3/29/13 - The USA MNT qualified for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in London with a win over Uruguay in Atlanta on Saturday. After going behind 13-3 in the first half, the Eagles fought back to win the game 32-13. The team lead by Head Coach Mike Tolkin '85 and with starters Seamus Kelly '09 and Mike Petri '02, secured their spot for London with the win. The USA Eagles will open their World Cup campaign against Samoa on 20 September 2015 at Brighton Community Stadium.
6/8/13 - Seamus Kelly '09 will earn his first start for the USA Eagles when he joins Mike Petri '02 in the starting line-up against Ireland. The match will be shown live on Universal Sports at 8:30pm EST. Don't miss the pregame show at 7:30 that profiles Mike Petri. Go Eagles!!!
6/2/13 - Thirteen Xavier grads competed in the nationally televised Collegiate Rugby 7's Championship this weekend. Dom DeFalco '10, Mike Erickson ’08 and Greg Voigt '09, represented Cup quarterfinalist Penn State. Chris Mattina ‘11, Johnny Gearity ’10, and Steven Sanchez '09 led Delaware to the Plate Championship. Nick Fazzolari '09, Adam Duignan ’11, Tom O’Neill ‘09, Joe Wolfer '11, Nick Conte ‘11, & Kevin
Cochrane ‘12. all took the field for St. Joe's. Seamus Kelly '09 earned the tournament MVP award while captaining Cal to the Cup Championship.
5/27/13- Xavier won its first RugbyNY State Championship with a 43-6 defeat of Kenmore West RFC. Xavier reached the final by beating McQuaid Jesuit HS 93-0 in the Saturday semi-final.
5/25/13 - Congratulations to Seamus Kelly '09 for earning his first cap as a US Men's National Team Eagle in the USA vs. Canada match. Seamus follows Mike Petri in becoming the second Xavier grad to play for the US Men's National Team.
5/18/13 - Xavier defeated Penn HS 36-10 to secure 3rd Place at the Boys High School National Invitational Championship. Xavier defeated last year's national champion Dixon HS 45-27 in the quarter finals but fell to Jesuit HS 37-20 in the semi-finals despite leading the match until the last 15 minutes. The third place finish makes Xavier history as this is teh teams fifth straight final four appearance!
4/5/13 Varsity A closed out the RugbyNY season with an 84-0 defeat of St. Anthony's. JV followed up with an identical 84-0 shutout at St. Anthony's.
5/2/13 - Varsity B hung on to win a critical RugbyNY League match 27-24 over Fordham Prep. Like all Fordham Prep Xavier competitions, this was a tough and hard fought match that wasn't won until Liam Gresser hit a last minute penalty to seal the win.
4/27/13 - Xavier enjoyed a most successful Alumni and Family Day as the teams swept all four matches in front of a packed house of Xavier supporters.

4/20/13 - Playing without six starting players, the Varsity a scarpped to a tough 32-30 victory over a dangerous perry Street Prep team. The B's, depleted by having to send starting backs to the A-side, fell to NYRFC 24-12. Freshmen carried the day with a 46-10 defeat of emerging New Jersey power Christian Brothers Academy.
4/14/13 Varsity, JV and Freshman all had positive, but mixed results at the Jesuit Rugby Classic as each squad recorded two wins and one loss.
4/4/13 - Varsity A toughed it out a aginst a very big and physical Marin Highlanders 29-14 (ranked #12 in USA) , while the Varsity B shut out Marin B 32-0
4/2/13 Varsity B lost a close one to De La Salle HS A 17-29.
4/1/13 Varsity A toppled #1 ranked Jesuit HS Sacramento 41-20 in the biggest HS match in the USA so far this year.
3/30/13 Former 2009 Xavier co-captains Mike Juszsak and Seamus Kelly captained Utah and Cal Berkeley against each other in front of the touring Xavier squad at the Cal Berkely homecoming. Pat Coleman '10 also started for Cal in their 51-29 victory.
3/29/13 Varsity opened our California Tour with a 53-17 defeat of SFGG (ranked #18 club in USA).
3/24/13 Xavier Varsity sets record with 116-0 win over 2012 Rugby NY Champion McQuaid at West Point. Varsity B follows up with 93-0 victory over McQuaid B to up their season record to 4-0 (Varsity B total season score is 289-0 in four matches). Closer to home, the JV defaeted Fordham Prep 34-7 at Aviator for their second win of the young season.
3/21/13 The freshman notched a 38-10 victory over Union U15 to begin their careers in maroon and blue. Congratulations to the team and the coaches on a great start!
3/17/13 Xavier scored a St. Patrick's Day clean sweep over Fairfield Prep in front a great crowd of faithful fans at Aviator Field. Varsity A won 76-7, Varsity B regsitered its third straight shutout 67-0 and the JV improved to 2-0 with a 20-3 shutout in a shortened match.
3/16/13 Xavier Varsity opened its 2013 Rugby NY season with a 87-0 shutout of Long Island Colts.
3/11/13 Varsity B continued its unscored upon season with a 58-0 defeat of Strake Jesuit HS from Houston, TX.
3/10/13 Varsity A defeated a talented and athletic Perry Street Prep (ranked #24 nationally) 31-19.
3//2/13 Varsity A kicked off the season with 65-10 defeat of St. Joe's Prep (Philadelphia) at Per 40. Varsity B followed with a 71-0 shutout and a 34-0 third half.

2/1/13 Tom O'Hara '69 was inducted into the Xavier Hall of Fame for his leadership in founding the Xavier rugby team in 1976, his hard work as Xavier rugby's first head coach, and his active and unfailing support of the Xavier football and rugby pragrams. 12/5/12 - James Kondrat '12 awarded the prestigous Higgins Scholarship from the US Rugby Football Foundation to further his education at the University of California at Berkeley.
12/1/12 - Xavier Football wins CHFSL AA Championship 35-14 over St. John the Baptist HS. 18 of 22 starting positions were filled by rugby players in the game.
11/30 & 12/1/12 - University of California students Charles Guiraud '12 & Seamus Kelly ' 09 and University of Delaware students Jimmy Kowalski '08, Chris Mattina '11, & Steven Sanchez '09 competed in the National Collegiate Sevens Championship Tournament.
- Delaware advanced to the Cup Semi-finals and Jimmy Kowalski '08 earned all-tournament honors.
11/12 - Mike Petri '02 named Player of the Year by Rugby Magazine.
11/24/12 - USA Eagles, led by Head Coach Mike Tolkin '85 and starting scrumhalf Mike Petri '02, finished their European tour 2-1 with a 34-3 rout of Romania.
6/16/12 - Mike Tolkin '85 notched his first victory as USA Men's National Team Head Coach with a 36-20 victory over Georgia. Vice-Captain Mike Petri '02 started at scrumhalf and scored a try. Cal senior Seamus Kelly '09 made the USA squad, but did not earn a cap in this match.
